From Flipped to Fixed: Restoring Comfort and Confidence
A recently renovated home concealed major HVAC deficiencies. Performance-based corrections reduced duct leakage by 78.5%.
The problem
After purchasing what they believed was a fully renovated home, the homeowners discovered excessive humidity, condensation, dust, and allergy concerns. Our investigation revealed an oversized HVAC system and severely deficient ductwork concealed behind an otherwise attractive renovation.
The process
Load calculation, duct leakage testing, TrueFlow, and MeasureQuick diagnostics exposed deficiencies and verified the corrective work.

The result
What should have been the excitement of enjoying a newly renovated home quickly turned into frustration as the homeowners discovered serious comfort, humidity, and indoor air quality concerns.
Our comprehensive evaluation revealed that the HVAC installation had not received the same attention to quality that the home's cosmetic renovations suggested.
By correcting fundamental design and installation deficiencies, we helped the homeowners reclaim their investment and establish a foundation for lasting comfort, improved moisture management, cleaner indoor air, and more reliable system performance.
Instead of simply addressing symptoms or replacing equipment like-for-like, we identified and corrected underlying problems through proper engineering, craftsmanship, and measurable performance verification.
The result was more than an HVAC improvement. It was an opportunity for the homeowners to finally enjoy their newly purchased home with greater comfort, confidence, and peace of mind.
Equipment installed
Installed a properly sized 3-ton Armstrong Air air conditioning system featuring a new condenser and matching evaporator coil, replacing the previously oversized 4-ton configuration. Completely redesigned and replaced the existing duct distribution system with antimicrobial flexible ductwork, incorporating engineered mixing boxes and balancing dampers to optimize airflow distribution and promote consistent temperatures throughout the home. The new system was designed and installed to address the original deficiencies in equipment sizing, duct leakage, airflow distribution, and moisture management, with performance verified through post-installation MeasureQuick diagnostics and duct leakage testing.
Measurable results
78.5% Reduction in Duct Leakage: Verified through before-and-after testing, with leakage decreasing from 300.5 CFM25 to 64.64 CFM25.
235.86 CFM25 Reduction: Significant improvement in duct system airtightness, reducing unwanted air leakage.
25% Reduction in Installed Cooling Capacity: Equipment capacity reduced from 4 tons to 3 tons following proper load calculations and system redesign.
Before-and-After Performance Verification: MeasureQuick diagnostics and duct leakage testing documented the original mechanical deficiencies and the improvements achieved through corrective work.
Investment Protection: Replaced a deficient HVAC installation with a properly designed solution, addressing underlying problems that had compromised the comfort and performance of the recently purchased home.
